The Provincial Taxi Violence Unit detectives have initiated an investigation following a shooting incident in which four men were killed, while another man and a child sustained injuries on Saturday evening at the Bellville Taxi Rank.
Official police reports from the scene indicate that the victims were at the long distance side of the taxi rank at approximately 21:00 when four gunmen travelling in two vehicles emerged. The suspects fired multiple shots resulting four fatalities, while one man and a seven-year-old child sustained injuries.
Bellville police have registered murder and attempted murder cases for investigation. A firearm linked to a taxi driver was confiscated by police.
