Vehicle Theft Syndicate Intercepted: Three Apprehended Following High-Speed Chase

Three suspects believed to be linked to a string of vehicle thefts across Hillcrest, Westville, Chatsworth and greater Durban were apprehended earlier today following a high-speed chase during a joint operation involving Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT), SAPS and several private security partners.
Officers recovered a key-cloning machine and a signal jammer from the silver Haval Jolion involved in the pursuit.
The joint operation was specifically planned to target motor vehicle theft syndicates responsible for ongoing incidents across Durban and surrounding areas.
During the operation, members received intelligence regarding a silver Haval Jolion believed to have been involved in the theft of a Toyota Fortuner in Hillcrest late yesterday morning.
At approximately 11h00, while conducting patrols in Chatsworth, members spotted a silver Haval Jolion matching the description of the vehicle linked to the Hillcrest theft.
When members attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to comply and sped off, resulting in a high-speed pursuit.
During the pursuit, the occupants threw a bag and car-breaking implements from the rear window.
The pursuit ended when the Haval pulled into a petrol station along RK Khan Circle, where all four occupants abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot.
Members immediately pursued the suspects, successfully apprehending three following a brief foot chase.
A subsequent search of the Haval uncovered multiple vehicle computer boxes, car-breaking tools, a key-cloning machine and a signal jammer. Further investigation also revealed that the vehicle had been fitted with false registration plates.

The suspects are believed to be linked to the Toyota Fortuner stolen in Hillcrest the previous day, with investigations also focusing on their suspected involvement in numerous vehicle theft incidents across Hillcrest, Westville, Chatsworth and greater Durban in recent months.
All three suspects, together with the recovered exhibits, were transported to Chatsworth SAPS for further investigation and legal processing.
The operation was carried out through the combined efforts of the SAPS eThekwini District Tracing Team, Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team, ET Rapid Response TRT, Fidelity Investigations and Specialised Operations, Bidvest McCarthy Risk Management and Alpha Security.
Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team is taking the fight to organised crime alongside SAPS and our security partners. For the community, that means a team acting on intelligence and pursuing suspects across policing areas. In Case of Anything.
