Suspect arrested and a stolen vehicle recovered, Jansenville

A swift response by patrolling members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) has led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a 46-year-old male suspect in Jansenville.
On 30 October 2026, at approximately 00:30, while conducting routine patrol duties, members received operational intelligence indicating that a white Toyota Corolla was moving through the Jansenville area. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Bethelsdorp, Gqeberha, on 29 October 2026.
Members immediately acted on the information, intercepted the vehicle and successfully recovered it, along with the 46-year-old driver.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and faces charges related to the possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.
The Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Major General Thandiswa Kupiso, has commended the patrolling members for their quick response and alertness. “This successful interception demonstrates that our visible policing members remain highly vigilant and reactive to operational intelligence. By removing stolen assets off our roads swiftly, we continue to squeeze the space for criminals operating across our district borders,” said Major General Kupiso.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Jansenville Magistrate’s Court soon.
