Hijacked & Kidnapped By Friends Over Loan Dispute: Ballito - KZN
A thirty (39) year old man was Hijacked & Kidnapped from his home in a gated estate in the presence of his wife & new born baby.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was called out on Wednesday (23/09/2026) to assist in the search for the Ballito - KZN resident. He returned home during the hours or Thursday (24/09/2026) morning.
When interviewed by Reaction Officers, the victim & his family provided the following details regarding the incident.
According to the victim, he had borrowed R180 000 from a friend residing in Phoenix - KZN (address withheld). He then failed to make the repayments timeously and on the day of the incident the friend made contact with him asking for his location pin drop. Shortly afterwards four (4) mean arrived at gated complex and were granted access. They were all friends known to him.
During a conversation one of the friends drew a firearm and demanded the keys to a Peugeot bakkie parked at his residence. They then forced him into his own bakkie while one of the friends followed in a Volkswagen GTI they had arrived in.
The men then drove to Ndwedwe - KZN and made several calls and discussed disposing his body. During the drive he was assaulted and several attempts where made to strangle him with a seatbelt. According to the victim, the vehicle was low on fuel and they drove to a gas station where he pleaded for his life.
The suspects then granted him an extension to repay the money on condition that it was paid double (R360 000) by Friday (25/09/2026). When he agreed, he was drop off at home and his bakkie with registration plates DL81VHZN (pictured) was forcefully taken by the men.
The victim was initially afraid to register a criminal case, but opted to report the matter after the suspects called him on Friday and advised him to get a body bag ready. A case of Kidnapping & Hijacking has been registered at SAPS Umhlali in KZN via CAS No. 245/09/2026.
The suspects are four (4) indian males and are known to the complainant. The hijacked vehicle is sought by law enforcement on the same Crime Administration System (CAS) number with circulation no. 3284624.
