Vendor Shot During Home Robbery: Amaotana – KZN
A Vendor was shot three (3) times during an armed robbery at his home in the Qedumona area of Amaotana, KwaZulu-Natal, yesterday evening (Wednesday, 23/09/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were attending a fatal shooting nearby when they were dispatched to a second shooting at the vendor’s home.
According to the injured man’s daughter, six (6) children were inside the house at the time. Her father had just returned from selling fruit and vegetables when three (3) armed suspects followed him. They fired through a window, threatened to break down the aluminium door and fired another shot through the door. One (1) bullet struck a refrigerator.
The robbers entered the home, pointed firearms at the family and demanded cash. When the man refused, they shot him in the lower body. His daughter handed over a bag containing an unknown amount of money after seeing him collapse. His wife handed over a further R600 and pleaded with them not to kill him.
The suspects fled with the money and a microwave. The injured male was transported to hospital prior to the arrival of Reaction Officers. The extent of his injuries was not immediately established. The six (6) children, aged between five (5) and 14, were unharmed. One (1) cartridge casing and two (2) bullets were found at the scene.
