Premier Dr Ramathuba Hands Over 78 Law Enforcement Vehicles

Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba today led the official handover of 78 law enforcement vehicles to traffic officers at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium Parking in Polokwane.

She was accompanied by the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Ms Nakedi Kekana, the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Transport and Community Safety, Ms Kedibone Lebea (MPL), and the Acting Executive Mayor of Polokwane, MMC Yusuf Pema.

The handover forms part of the Department’s 24/7 shift system to boost visibility of officers on our roads, improve response times and help reduce road fatalities in Limpopo.

The Premier noted that the Madlanga Commission of Enquiry laid bare many issues in the law enforcement space, which has diminished and eroded the trust our people have in officers. She appealed to officers to double their efforts to regain that trust, starting with the efficient use of the vehicles handed over.

Premier Ramathuba emphasised that, most importantly, the vehicles must assist the province to reduce road accident fatalities by 10%.
