It depends on what information is specifically required.
The National Road Traffic Regulations has a chapter on the fitness of vehicles. For example it will prescribe which vehicles need a roadworthy every year and the process of updating the roadworthiness of the vehicles.
In terms of the requirements to roadworthy a vehicle there are very specific standards for example the SABS 047 "Testing of motor vehicles for roadworthiness" is the code of practice that examiners should follow. There are various other standards that can be obtained from the SABS.
