PrDP and transport of employees

Question

If my company uses mini-buses(Vito's and Quantums) as transport for my employees driving around all over South Africa do the drivers need PrDP's? Its in the drivers job description to transport colleagues but he does not receive any money from the passengers whatsoever. The buses do weigh more than 3500kg and can carry 12 or more but at the moment the max passengers are 10. I just need some clarification on this please.

Answer

If the vehicle does exceed 3500kg then a PrDP is required. Also if the vehicle is designed or adapted to carry more than 12 people including the driver then a PrDP is required. Whether the driver is alone, a PrDP is still required.
