Traffic Fine and Alternate Amount

What does alternate amount mean on a parking ticket of a vechile that has its licence disc expired? Eg the fine says: fine amount R600 and Alternate amount R100

Answer

Alternate amount is if the owner has the valid disc and did not replace the expired disc on the windscreen. The benefit is offered to the owner to produce the disc.
If this cannot be produced to the court of law then the fine of R600 is payable and if the renewed disc is produced then the fine of R100 is payable for failing to display a valid disc.
