Flashing lights on motorbike

Question

Are motocycles permitted to carry a flashing LED Light (Amber or Green) (Like on bicycles) to add to their visibility or is it against the law? In my opinion it should be allowed as the more visible a road user is the better.

Answer

Regulation 176 prescribes who may use an intermittently flashing light and the designated colour. Green flashing lights are reserved for people engaged in civil protection in terms of the Civil Protection Acts. Yellow flashing lights are reserved for breakdown vehicles, public service vehicles and abnormal vehicles.

Therefore it would appear that you are not allowed to add any of the two flashing lights to a motor cycle.
