Armed Suspects Attempt To Rob/Hijack Bread Delivery Crew: Canelands - KZN

Two (2) employees delivering bread were confronted by armed suspects during a robbery/hijacking attempt in Canelands - KwaZulu-Natal today (Friday).
The owner of the delivery vehicle arrived at the headquarters of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) requesting urgent assistance after being alerted to the incident involving his staff.
According to information received, the employees were conducting deliveries in a white Hyundai H100 bakkie that was fully loaded with crates of bread when they were approached by two (2) male suspects who produced firearms.
The driver fled on foot and concealed himself. He then contacted the owner of the vehicle and informed him that the suspects were attempting to rob them and possibly take the vehicle. The owner was monitoring the vehicle’s movement via a cellphone tracking application and provided
Reaction Officers with GPS coordinates indicating the vehicle’s location in Canelands - KZN. Officers immediately mobilised and converged on the area. The bakkie was located parked outside a tuck shop.
First Responders were approached by the driver and his assistant on arrival. They reported that during the confrontation they fled in different directions after the suspects produced firearms. The suspects were unable to start the vehicle and fled the scene empty-handed.
No injuries were reported.
