Two motorists arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in the Vosloorus and Bedfordview areas.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Freeway Unit Officers, arrested two (2) male motorists, aged twenty-six (26) and forty-three (43), for driving under the influence of alcohol in the Vosloorus and Bedfordview areas.

While Officers were conducting law enforcement operations on the N3 freeway near the Barry Marais off-ramp and the R24 freeway near the Barbara off-ramp, they stopped two vehicles, a white VW Citi Golf at approximately 08:55 and a white Nissan hatchback at approximately 19:55.

During the interaction with the drivers, Officers noticed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and the smell of alcohol. Breathalyzer tests were conducted and confirmed that both drivers were over the legal alcohol limit.

Both suspects were taken to the nearest healthcare facilities for further processing and were subsequently detained at Vosloorus Police Station and Bedfordview Police Station respectively.
