Early detection allowed for a rapid response, preventing the situation from escalating.
The fire was promptly extinguished thanks to the swift intervention of SANParks - Table Mountain National Park rangers, who ensured that the blaze did not spread.
We urge everyone to avoid actions with the potential to cause devastating fires in sensitive mountain environments. Careless fires put lives, property and the natural environment at risk.
The incident concluded shortly after midnight, with all hikers and rescuers safely off the mountain at 00h15.
We extend our appreciation to all responding teams and agencies for their swift action continued dedication.
