Suspect evades arrest after transporting illicit goods along the Percy Five road, under Mokopane policing area.

Members of the Waterberg #FlyingSquad conducted an operation following intelligence received from a reliable source regarding a grey Toyota Hilux suspected to be transporting illicit goods along the Percy Five road, under Mokopane policing area.

The operation was conducted between 06:00 and 18:00 on Tuesday, 20 January 2026. Upon spotting the police vehicle, the driver of the suspected vehicle abandoned it and fled into nearby bushes. A search was conducted, however, the suspect managed to evade arrest.

Upon inspection of the abandoned vehicle, police discovered 186 cartons of illicit cigarettes with an estimated value of R18 500. The vehicle and the recovered cigarettes were confiscated for further investigation.

Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
