Eight suspects nabbed during Operation Safer Festive Season in Nkangala District

NELSPRUIT – Members from the Provincial Task Team executed Safer Festive Season Operation thereby yielding positive results in the fight against crime in Mpumalanga.

During the operation in Delmas area, on 08 January 2026, eight suspects, aged between 20 and 34, were arrested for various criminal offences. Three were apprehended for possession of suspected stolen properties (motor vehicles), one for possession of dagga whilst three were nabbed for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) and one was arrested for common assault.

The operation aimed at preventing and combating crime in areas of interest across the Mpumalanga Province.

The suspects were charged accordingly and are expected to appear at the Delmas Magistrate's Court on Monday, 12 January 2026.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended members for their dedication and commitment. "The Operation remains a critical intervention to curb criminal activities and to create a safe environment for communities. We will continue to intensify our operations, ensuring that criminals are brought to book, ” said the General.
