RTMC warns against night-time and pre-dawn travel

The Road Traffic Management Corporation reiterates its call for motorists to avoid late-night and pre-dawn travel to avoid deadly crashes over the festive season.
This comes after two vehicles collided at about 4:30 am this morning on N12 near Ogies in Mpumalanga and resulting in seven fatalities.
This happened when a Toyota Sedan with Mozambican transporting 5 persons and a Nissan NP 200 LDV transporting 2 persons, got involved in a T-Bone type crash.
The crash occurred when the driver of Nissan LDV, travelling from east to west on the N12 lost control of the vehicle and it crossed the centre median in the path of the approaching Toyota Sedan where the vehicles collided in a T-Bone type crash. All occupants in both vehicles died at the scene.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this stage and will be subject to the ongoing investigation by the RTMC Crash Unit members and the South African Police Service.
Please be Alert, Sober and Defensive on the Roads Tonight!!
