Operation Safer Festive Season - SAPS clamp down on illegal liquor and drug trade in Nieuwoudtville

SPRINGBOK - As part of the ongoing Operation Safer Festive Season, members of Nieuwoudtville SAPS, supported by Calvinia Crime Intelligence, conducted two successful operations targeting illegal liquor and drug activities in Nieuwoudtville.

The joint operations were carried out from 20:00 on 13 November 2025 until 06:00 on 14 November 2025.

During the first operation, an illegal shebeen was raided, resulting in the arrest of a 46-year-old male for dealing in illegal alcohol. Liquor valued at approximately R990-00 was seized, as well as cash believed to be the proceeds of illegal sales.

In the second operation, a 53-year-old male was arrested for dealing in drugs and alcohol. Police seized cash, believed to have been generated through illicit sales, as well as drugs with an estimated street value of R23 099-70.

These arrests and seizures demonstrate the SAPS’s unwavering commitment to dismantling illegal operations and protecting communities during the festive season.

The Namakwa District SAPS will continue to enforce the law decisively and ensure that offenders are brought to justice.

The Acting District Commissioner, Colonel Moses Lekgwati, commends the collective effort in combating crime.
