SAPS members detain suspects for possession of presumed stolen property and drugs

WESTERN CAPE - Members of the Maitland Flying Squad followed up information on Friday, 10 October 2025, about a grey Volkswagen Polo that is driving in the Strand area with five occupants inside the vehicle. The vehicle was stopped in Old Main Road, Macassar, and the members searched the occupants and the vehicle. SAPS uniform, a blue light, and dagga were found in the vehicle. The five adult male suspects were arrested for the possession of presumed stolen property and the possession of dagga.
They will appear in the Strand Magistrates’ court on Monday.
In an unrelated matter, members of the Anti-Gang Unit and the SAPS Drone Unit, searched a premises in 7de Laan, Valhalla Park, where they confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition and drugs. They arrested an 18-year-old male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of drugs.
He will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ court on Monday on the mentioned charges.
