Suspect arrested and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition.

On Friday, 01 August 2025, while conducting routine patrols in Eldorado Park Extension 8, members of the Tactical Response Unit (TRU) observed a suspicious male. Upon approaching the individual, he attempted to flee on foot. Officers immediately gave chase and successfully apprehended him a short distance away.

Upon securing the suspect, officers searched his person and belongings. During the search, two unlicensed firearms and multiple magazines containing live ammunition were discovered in his possession. The suspect failed to provide any lawful documentation or reasonable explanation for possessing the weapons.

The 34-year-old suspect was arrested on the scene and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition. He was detained at Eldorado Park SAPS.

The JMPD commends the swift actions of the TRU members, whose vigilance and commitment to public safety led to the removal of dangerous weapons from our community.
