Britstown police investigate fatal N12 bus crash

The South African Police Service in Britstown is investigating a case of culpable homicide following a fatal bus accident that occurred on the N12 between Britstown and Victoria West in the early hours of Thursday, 31 July 2025, at approximately 05:20.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of an Intercity bus lost control of the vehicle, which subsequently overturned at a bridge. The bus was carrying a total of 42 passengers at the time of the incident.
Tragically, four passengers — two adult males and two adult females — were declared deceased at the scene. Eight other passengers sustained serious injuries, including one adult male, six adult females, and a female infant. An additional 30 passengers sustained minor injuries.
A second Intercity bus was dispatched to transport passengers who were able to continue their journey.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
