The driver of a rental sports car lost control and crashed into stationary vehicles in the Cape Town CBD

Another high-speed motor vehicle accident involving a high-end luxury sports car took place in town last night when the driver of the rental sports car lost control and crashed into stationery vehicles, reports the CCID’s Safety & Security department.
This follows the incident on 1 July when a CCID Public Safety Officer on patrol in Bree St in the early hours was hit and injured by a speeding vehicle which mounted the pavement of a median, struck a traffic sign pole as well as a traffic light.
Last night’s accident took place at 22h50 on the corner of Queen Victoria and Orange Sts. Although no one was injured in the accident, four vehicles were severely damaged.
Gary Dyssel, CCID Safety & Security night manager, was on duty in the CBD when the accident occurred. He says: “The driver lost control of the vehicle as he turned into Orange St from Buitensingel St. He slammed into a parked red luxury sedan, spun out of control and hit a silver luxury sedan which bumped into a white car parked in front of it.”
SAPS and City Law Enforcement were on the scene within minutes. “The vehicles which were involved in the accident were all severely damaged. The luxury vehicles had to be towed away. The white vehicle was still driveable, but the owner was very upset as the car was brand new.”
The driver who caused the accident is on holiday in Cape Town and was not driving under the influence. He had his driver’s licence with him.
