Man arrested with two (2) AK47 rifles and a pistol
KwaZulu-Natal police officers who are members of the Economic Infrastructure Task Team (EITT) have arrested a 49-year-old man after he was found in possession of two (2) illegal AK47 assault rifles and a pistol at his home at Adams Mission in the KwaMakhutha policing precinct on Tuesday night, 17 June 2025.
Police, working together with eThekwini Metro Investigators, embarked on an intelligence driven operation following up on intelligence about a man who was suspected of having firearms. Police pounced on the suspect at his home and he was found in possession of a pistol. Further search in his house led to the recovery of two (2) AK47 rifles and several rounds of ammunition of different calibre of firearms.
The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing, to verify if they can be linked to any crime scenes in the province or elsewhere in the country. The arrested suspect will appear in court soon.
