Gauteng – JMPD officers rescued a woman in the early hours of Wednesday, 18 June 2025, after her ex-boyfriend allegedly kidnaped her.
At approximately 04:00, JMPD officers were patrolling the N1 South highway towards 14th Avenue when they noticed a silver-grey Hyundai travelling without its headlights on. As they pulled alongside the vehicle to alert the driver, a woman inside screamed for help through an open window, claiming she had been kidnapped.
The officers immediately activated their blue lights and sirens. The suspect sped off, leading to a high-speed chase. The vehicle exited the highway at the Gordon Road off-ramp and was cornered on 6th Street in De La Rey.
The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Backup was called, and the woman was rescued. She confirmed she had been kidnapped from her workplace in Midrand, where she was on night shift.
