Card sceming suspect arrested at The Grove Mall after a vehicle chase
In a operation involving LYTTELTON SAPS, Highway Patrol, Gauteng Traffic Wardens STT (Northern Corridor), TSHENOLO PI, PROSHIELD, AXON Security, TRACKER SA, FADT, SAFETYNET, SEEK, and NOORDVAAL, officers responded to a lookout for a silver Mercedes-Benz driving without number plates—suspected to be involved in card scamming activities in the Brooklyn area.
The vehicle was located at Hazeldean Shopping Centre, where suspects had just scammed a male victim and robbed him of R10,000. Upon noticing law enforcement presence, the suspects fled the scene, sparking a high-speed chase.
The pursuit led to The Grove Mall, where the suspects attempted to escape through the shopping centre. Highway Patrol followed the suspects inside, while GTW STT (NC) strategically barricaded the exit.
Some suspects attempted to flee on foot while one remained inside the vehicle. The suspect’s car was found to be a rented vehicle.
One suspect was apprehended.
