28 School Children Were Injured in a Traffic Collision Near Pietermaritzburg

Twenty-eight school children sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious following a collision between a bakkie and a taxi on the R56 near Pietermaritzburg this morning.

The taxi was transporting children to school when the accident occurred. KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service paramedics responded immediately to the scene and provided emergency medical treatment to all injured pupils.

After being stabilised at the scene, all 28 children were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care and treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known, and authorities are investigating the incident.
