Chop shop suspect arrested in Oakford

Acting on a tip-off, Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrested a man transporting stolen vehicle parts from a  Chop Shop in an area bordering the Ilembe and Ethekweni District. 

The RUSA Operations Center received information that stolen and hijacked vehicles were being stripped in an area between Oakford and Ndwedwe in KZN. Description of a truck used to transport the stolen parts were also relayed to responding Reaction Officers. 

While Reaction Officers were trying to locate the Chop Shop, a truck fitting the description provided by the informer was seen leaving the area. The truck was forcefully stopped and engines, tyres, rims & other vehicle parts were found loaded in the bin. The driver informed Officers that he was hired to transport the stolen goods by a hijacking syndicate. During an interview, the driver offered to point out the location of where the vehicles were been dismantled. When Reaction Officers got to the location, the suspects stripping the vehicles had fled peior to arrival. 

The driver of the truck was arrested & detained for being in Possession of Property Suspected to be Stolen.
