Road safety education at Kid Maponya Primary School and Atlholang Primary School
The Gauteng Department of Community Safety Road Safety Promotions Unit, in collaboration with members of SAPS, the Department of Social Development, and other key stakeholders, visited Kid Maponya Primary School and Atlholang Primary School today to educate learners on safety issues.
The school visits form part of the ongoing efforts to instill responsible road use habits in young learners and reduce pedestrian-related incidents, particularly among school-going children.
Officials engaged with the learners, providing information on safe road crossing practices, traffic signs, the importance of using pedestrian crossings, and general road awareness.
The officials also handed out school uniforms and scholar patrol uniforms. The scholar patrol initiative plays an important role in ensuring the safety of learners during peak traffic hours, and equipping them with the right uniform strengthens their role in making school environments safer.
