Reportedly intoxicated man has foot amputated when run over by a train

A man believed to be in his forties was seriously injured after he was run over by a train in Gandhi’s Hill - KZN this afternoon (Saturday). 

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene at approximately 15:58 after a passer-by discovered the seriously injured male lying on the train track. His left foot was completely amputated. He further sustained injuries to his back and head. On arrival, RUSA Medics stabilised the seriously injured male who was under the influence of alcohol. 

According to witnesses, the man was walking on the railway track when he was struck by a goods train. They could hear the train engineer sounding the horn before the accident. 

The train left the scene prior to the arrival of Reaction Officers.
