Multiple fatalities in a head-on collision on the R61 between Flagstaff and Lusikisik
Multiple fatalities in excess of 9 people, in a head-on collision involving a minibus taxi and one of the long-distance buses.
The accident occurred on the R61 between Flagstaff and Lusikisiki at about 13:45 today.

Major Crash Alert ??
Major crash occurred today on the R61 at Dlibona Location between Flagstaff and Lusikisiki, Eastern Cape.
MarcoPolo Double Decker Bus ( Citiliner) and a Toyota Quantum Minibus were involved in a head-on crash.
The bus, allegedly transporting 18 occupants, was travelling from Lusikisiki and the Minibus, allegedly transporting 16 occupants, was travelling from Flagstaff towards Lusikisiki.
The crash resulted in 11 fatalities ( 9 adults and 2 children from the Minibus).
There were 7 persons injured from the Minibus ( 6 serious and the driver sustained slight injuries) whilst 8 occupants from the bus sustained slight injuries. The injured were taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Flagstaff.
The cause of the crash is unknown and will be subject to ongoing investigation.
