SAPS Search and Rescue saves a man from a dam in Delportshoop
The Northern Cape SAPS Search and Rescue team responded to a drowning in progress in Delportshoop and saved the life of a 19-year-old man.
On 20 March 2023 at about 18:30, the man jumped into a water reservoir dam in Delportshoop.
A security guard on the premises spotted his clothes and other belongings and contacted the police.
The Provincial Commander of the Search and Rescue Team, Capt John Seeley traveled from Kimberley and executed the rescue with the help of his team. Capt Seeley saved the man who clung onto a pole and retrieved him unharmed from the dam.
The victim was traumatized and had no other visible injuries.
The SAPS management thanked Capt John Seeley and the Search and Rescue team for their bravery and swift response that resulted in the saving of the victim’s life.
