Cashier in court for fraud after manipulating the eNatis system
A 44-year-old Nomava Luwalala, a cashier at Emthanjeni Municipality, appeared briefly before Hanover Magistrate court on Thursday, 01 December 2022, facing charges of 20 fraud.
Nomava was arrested this morning, by the Hawk’s Serious Corruption Investigation, when she reported for duty at Hanover Local Municipal offices.
Allegations are that the accused person manipulated eNatis system for over a period of time covering July 2019 to December 2020, while performing her duties, she failed to report all the monies received. The Municipality suffered a loss of R120 252, as a result.
The accused was immediately taken to court after arrest for her first court appearance at Hanover Magistrate court and a bail of R1000-00 was granted, matter postponed to 20 March 2023 for Regional court transfer.
