Man critically injured in a shooting in Westville

Just after 19h00 on Friday, Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a shooting incident on Melrose Avenue, in the Berea West area of Westville.

Reports from the scene are that a thirty-year-old male was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his lower limbs and was in a critical condition.

Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilize him before he was taken to a nearby hospital for further care.

The circumstances surrounding the incident and the events preceding it are unclear and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation.
