Woman kidnapped by robbery suspects in Amoutana

A 21-year-old female was kidnapped by robbery suspects in Amoutana, KZN.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of two robberies and a kidnapping. On arrival, officers located a white VW Golf down an embankment and a silver Toyota Avanza in a cul de sac.

According to the driver of the white VW Golf, the occupants of a white/silver Datsun Go attempted to stop his vehicle on Inanda Road. The man sped off and attempted to evade the vehicle but turned into a cul de sac. The robbers blocked the road with their vehicle preventing him from fleeing. The victim then crashed his car down an embankment.

The robbers assaulted him and were in the process of stealing his valuables when the Toyota Avanza stopped to drop off a passenger. The suspects accosted the occupants of the vehicle and robbed them of their valuables. One of the suspects asked a female passenger to remove her face mask. When she did he forced her out of the vehicle and into the Datsun Go.

Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the female however she could not be located. It was later established that after the suspects fled the scene they had robbed a house in the vicinity. The female managed to flee from the vehicle and hid in a bush. She later returned home.

The occupants of the Datsun Go are being sought for a spate of robberies and hijacking.
