Man killed in an elephant attack in Gravelotte
A man in his 50s sustained fatal injuries following an elephant attack on a game reserve in Gravelotte, Limpopo this morning.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 11h30, they found bystanders performing CPR on the man. ER24 paramedics took over and assessed the man but unfortunately, he was showing no signs of life. He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
It is understood that the man was a guide at the reserve and took tourists on a game drive to view the elephants before he was attacked by one of the elephants. The tourists managed to get him inside the 4x4 and drove him to the gate of the reserve where bystanders immediately initiated CPR and tried to stop the bleeding.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
