Four killed, three injured in a head-on collision outside Ermelo

Four men were killed and three others injured this afternoon when two light motor vehicles collided head-on on the N17 Bethal Road, approximately 15km outside of Ermelo.

At 16h30, ER24 and other services arrived on the scene to find the two wrecked vehicles in the middle of the road. Four men were found lying around one vehicle while a woman and two children were seated near the other vehicle.

Medics assessed the patients and found that three men had already succumbed to their numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead.

The fourth man was in critical condition while the woman and two children had sustained minor injuries.

Medics treated the patients and provided the critically injured man with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to Ermelo Provincial Hospital for further care.

Unfortunately, the critically injured man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
