Weekend operations yield good results
SAPS members remain focused on their mandate to bring perpetrators of crime to book. Yesterday members attached to K9 Breede River and Worcester SAPS executed a search warrant at November Street, Roodewal, Worcester where they found a revolver and 24 rounds of ammunition. A 41-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
On Friday, members from the Provincial Integrated Team acted on information about a man who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm at Sqalo squatter camp. Upon their arrival at the address, police conducted a search at the address and found a 9mm pistol with its serial number filed off. Two suspects, a man and a female-aged 30 and 32 were arrested for possession of prohibited firearm and ammunition.
In another incident, the same team was conducting crime preventions in Gugulethu when they arrested a 42-year-old man for possession of 133 small packets of Crystal Methamphetamine worth an estimated street value of R8000-00.
Meanwhile, in Khayelitsha a 20-year-old female and a 38-year-old male were arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition in Ndlovini by the same members of PIT.
On Friday afternoon, members of Maitland Flying Squad received a complaint of an armed robbery in Goodwood. The members pursued the suspects and arrested three suspects in Elsies River. The members searched the vehicle and found .22 Astra pistol, cash and four cellphones in the vehicle. The suspects were detained at Elsies River SAPS on a case of armed robbery and the illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. The suspects are due to appear in the respective courts on Monday morning.
