25 Learners aged between 8 and 9 were transported to a hospital following an incident in class in Kimberley
Twenty-five learners, aged between 8 and 9, were transported to the hospital following an incident in a classroom of a primary school in Kimberley this morning.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 09H30, they found a group of children on an open field after they were evacuated from their classroom.
It is believed that five 'paintballs' was cracked open in the classroom, which resulted in fumes being released.
ER24, along with Metro EMS, transported the children to Kimberley Provincial hospital for further medical care.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene.
